Revision Treatment

revision surgeryMost patients do not have any significant issues with bariatric surgical procedures. However, if you experience considerable weight gain despite a previous gastric surgery, a revision treatment for weight loss in Mexico can correct this.

In other cases, patients that have experienced bariatric procedures in their lifetime may be struggling with either considerable weight gain or they might not seem to be loosing the weight they were expected to lose.

What may have gone wrong

Some patients unfortunately regain weight or not able to reach their healthy goal weight. And this may happen even though the patient maintains a healthy diet, a solid fitness regimen, and keep up with their supplements.

At this point, we look at what went wrong. We rule out diet and exercise routine. From there we look at what might have gone wrong post-surgery.

The best way to determine what went wrong and for us to find the best solution to help you overcome this is to communicate with you. We will be happy to provide you with information about revision treatment options and to help you reach your goal.

Revision Surgery Process

Initial Consultation

We first discuss what previous procedure(s) you may have had. This is our opportunity to learn about what might have went wrong after the original procedure(s). In addition, we also gather information about your weight loss and overall health goals.

Fact-Finding

During the initial consultation, we will do a body mass index (BMI) analysis to see what treatment(s) you may be a good candidate for. This will let us know where you are at in your progress towards reaching your ideal weight. Also, we may request your previous medical records for further analysis on your previous procedure(s). The medical records request is not mandatory; we will only ask you to provide it if the records are available.

Endoscopy

Before your surgery, we will do an endoscopy. During the endoscopy, we do a full assessment of your digestive system. This will help us learn how the previous surgery was completed and the resulting state of your stomach and intestinal system. It might also give us clues as to why you are unable to reach your ideal weight. This step ultimately decides the revision treatment path.

Treatment

Treatment options for a revision surgery are mostly the mini gastric bypass or the gastric sleeve. In some cases, patients may require the Roux-en-Y, which is better known as the standard gastric bypass surgery.
